Ever heard of garbage in, garbage out? What you feed your eyes, ears, and mind is what you project to the world.
When you discover your purpose, you major on what energizes you and avoid things that zap your energy.
What motivates you to stay focused and energized through your daily routines?
The word motivation comes from the word motive. Motives are intentions, incentives, or stimulus that push you to do certain things.
A good example is you when you land on your dream job. The excitement you get, you look forward to waking up, getting to work, and the satisfaction. This is what keeps you going, doing something you love.
This is the motivation we all desire as we pursue our dreams.
Whatever your goal is, you need to stay motivated to attain them.
In this article, I’m going to explore things that motivate, and what takes motivation away. My goal is to make you aware and impress on you why you must adapt motivators and avoid energy drainers.
Here are some things that will motivate you.
Things that give you energy

Books- My all-time favorite quote from Jim Rohn is “reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary. I bet you aren’t ordinary” pick that book and you will travel the world from your seat.
Exercising- When you exercise your body releases some feel-good hormone called endorphin. This makes you feel energetic and you can face anything. This explains why exercising is addictive because it energizes you.
Conferences and webinars- Invest in yourself by choosing to attend conferences or webinars that are relevant to your path. Iron sharpens iron, connect with those that can help you become the best you can be. This re-energizes you to face your day, week, and month.
Visiting places- Outdoors or places that are serene by nature tend to clear your thoughts and raise your energies. I find nature walks refreshing, you see nature, hear the birds chirp. The beauty around has a way of reminding you that you are here on assignment. Anytime you feel stuffy and clouded take a walk or drive out of town. The fresh air, sceneries, will certainly reset your energy.
Meditation- I love reading the bible because I get motivated. The bible speaks of meditation. Meditation is focusing on specific thoughts or ideas to gain a deeper understanding and revelation. True meditation leads to more freedom by gaining deeper enlightenment on issues.
Some of my pick me up bible verses are

It could be by encouraging, following up, or investing resources and time. This is a secret to living an uplifted energetic life.
Things that take away your energy
Toxic relationships- These relationships are full of arguments and leave you drained. It could be a friend, colleague, or even a spouse. Cut off such relationships, or engage when need basis. You can also highlight the issues or go for counseling if you value the relationship.
Time wasters- These are small things we do in life that steal time from us. They include social media, endless movies, and TV time. If you need to do meaningful work, disconnect from this time-waster.
Research shows that an average person goes through their phone over 400 times a day. This only means that gadgets are controlling our lives. Instead of us controlling them. Focus and productivity diminish when you stop to check messages and social media.

Wrong attitude- Your attitude determines your altitude, make sure you stay positive regardless. Life will always throw curveballs. Whenever impossibilities show up, choose to wake up and face them.
Lack of sleep- We sleep to rest and rejuvenate, to tackle tomorrow confidently. Ensure you get enough sleep, failure to which your body will act up eventually forcing you to rest. Don’t wait for that to take a day off and rest.
Dehydration- Our body is 70% water. Keep it hydrated to avoid infections. It affects your ability to function normally. Water can be overlooked but is necessary for you to stay on top of your game
Bad Habits-These habits take away from our time, resources, and relationships. More often than not the participants are aware that they are in the wrong. Poor habits are drainers. They leave us looking forward to indulging again for the temporal excitement. They include alcohol, cigarettes, and substance abuse.
