Who Told You That You Were Naked?

I remember the day I woke up to the truth that I was not created to live small. For years, I lived like a beggar in life; grateful for employment, but blind to the fact that my real inheritance wasn’t in waiting for handouts of opportunity but in realizing that I was created for dominion. I am not meant to be subdued by the world; the world is meant to yield to me because I carry the image and likeness of God.

That realization shook me. And honestly? I beat myself up for all the years I lived beneath my birthright.

But let’s rewind to Eden. The very first question God asked after man fell was: “Who told you that you were naked?” (Genesis 3:11). That’s not just a historical question. It’s the question echoing in every generation. Who told you were less? Who told you your background limits you? Who told you creativity belongs to “special” people? Who told you the earth won’t yield to your word, your work, your faith?

The truth is that man’s greatest crisis today is identity.

Created for Dominion

When God made humanity, He gave us one clear mandate: “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28). That wasn’t a suggestion, it was our birthright. Dominion is not about oppressing others; it’s about mastering creation, living above limitations, and walking in the authority of heaven on earth.

But what did the serpent do? He planted a lie. He distorted the truth. He knew that if man lost his sense of identity, he would surrender his power. From that day, humanity started living under instead of above believing lies instead of truth.

And the devil hasn’t changed tactics. He still feeds us half-truths, “near truths,” and whispers that sound logical but are ultimately lies:

  • “You’re limited by your family bloodline.”
  • “You’re not creative enough.”
  • “You don’t have what it takes.”
  • “Stay safe, don’t dream too big.”

Every time you accept those whispers, your dominion shrinks.

Waking Up to Truth

When I finally discovered who I was in Christ, I realized I am more than an employee, more than my environment, more than my circumstances. I am a co-creator with Christ (1 Corinthians 3:9). The same Spirit that hovered over chaos in Genesis lives in me; meaning I have the nature of a master creator, healer, multiplier, and dominator of the very earth.

The earth is wired to respond to my voice. It should yield to my seed, my ideas, my prayers, my faith. That is my inheritance.

And yet for years, I lived like I had no wings.

According to Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way, every one of us is born creative. But as we grow, the world begins to clip our wings. Parents, teachers, systems, even society, begin to tell us what is “possible” and what is “not for people like us.” Slowly, we trade our birthright for survival. We trade dominion for conformity.

But here’s the good news: lies can be unlearned, and truth can be embraced.

The Word that Aligns Identity

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). That’s why the Word is more than a book; it is a mirror. When you read it, you stop seeing yourself as broken, small, or limited. You start seeing yourself as God’s reflection on earth.

It realigns you to the truth: you are not naked, not powerless, not limited, you are clothed in Christ, crowned with glory, destined to rule.

So, let me ask you personally: Who told you?

  • Who told you you’re not worthy of wealth, health, or joy?
  • Who told you your creativity has a limit?
  • Who told you you’re stuck in cycles of your bloodline?
  • Who told you the earth won’t respond to you?

It’s time to silence the serpent’s whispers.

You are a dominion taker. You are a co-creator. You are a child of the Most High, wired with limitless potential. Stop living like a beggar when you were born royal. Stop playing small when you were created to subdue kingdoms.

Wake up. Rediscover your identity. Believe the Word. And watch the earth yield to the power of God alive in you.
